Leigh Valudes, Ray Carney and members of our project team hosted a construction tour at the Intelligence Community Campus-Bethesda (ICC-B) for a Maryland Boy Scout Troop on 30 March, 2014. The site brief and tour will help the Troop obtain their Engineering Badge. The Markon team provided a project brief, then suited up the Scouts in hard hat, vest, and safety glasses for a construction tour.
Markon staff discussed how the architecture, engineering, and construction management services come together on major construction programs for government clients. The Markon team also exposed the Scouts to traditional tools such as scope, schedule, and cost, and how those metrics are used to plan and execute construction projects.
At the end of the tour, Markon presented the Scouts with an ICCB project badge, pen, hard hat, and unofficial site access badge (with name) as keepsakes and as a thank you for learning about the construction management industry.
Markon serves as the prime contractor executing the on-site Program Management Office at the 29-acre ICC-B campus. The program aims to fully redevelop the government campus to modern-day standards.
